Here are some highlights from Per and GF Europe. Per Moeller-Olsen
Hi I am Per Moeller-Olsen. I am partner in GF Europe and have taken a leave since my wife Nancy transferred to EDS in San Diego. So far I am trying to figure out what my next business assignment is going to be here in the San Diego area. Both Nancy and I like it a lot here. We often go sailing. I think I was more or less born in a dinghy, so sailing comes natural for me !!!
Have done many SBS installs over the last app. 4 years, started with 4.0 then 4.0a, 4.5 and 2000. I consider the product to be very stable, if you play by the rules and don’t tweak thinks too much without sort of knowing what you are doing.
I have spent most of my time at customer sites supporting them with all kinds of IT related issues. I guess I am what you would call a troubleshooter and IT Consultant. I have dedication and strong analytical skills. I like to work in a team oriented way.
I spend all kinds of odd hours loading my own servers with the latest stuff to see how it works. I also try all sorts of things with networks, including wireless 802.11.b
I have worked all over the world in the past for companies like CR Systems, WorldCom and EDS. I have written a lot of communication software in C in my early years in the computer business.
Here are a couple of stories from my past assignments:
In Warsaw, not long after the fall of the Berlin Wall, I was installing EDS’s CMIS mobile phone billing system for the Polish PTT. Initially, the bills weren’t printing correctly; we were behind schedule; and it was Friday afternoon. Rather than calling EDS in Waltham, Massachusetts, I made a quick decision to dive into the C code and the SQL database myself. It took all day and night Saturday and Sunday, but I succeeded in correcting the problems. Monday morning the Polish PTT printed bills for a control group consisting of my test cellular phone and Lech Walesa’s cellular phone. Polish PTT liked the layout of the bills and thanked me for my efforts. Twelve months later they had approximately 30,000 new subscribers on their Nokia cellular network, now receiving accurate and timely bills.
When I was writing communications software for the Williams Companies optical fiber network, I made a visit to NEC in Richardson, Texas, to deal with some of the finer details in their protocol specifications. They were impressed enough with my work to offer me a job on the spot. Two weeks later, when they were in Tulsa making a presentation at the Williams Companies, they again asked me, during the presentation itself, to move to NEC.
